Research Focus:

  • The application of learning theory both in invesigating and modification of human sexual behavior has a long tradition. Concepts of coditioning and learning have been used extensively to explain the diversity of responses that people find sexually arousing On the other hand there are a limited number of human studies on the topic for obvious ethical and technical reasons. Previous research with laboratory animals on sexual conditioning did not focuse on sexual dysfuntions or atypical sexual behaviors. Thus the learning laboratory team aims to explore the mechanisms of classical conditioning and observational learning in the sexual behavior of animals.

Ongoing Research

An Animal Model of Fetishism

An animal model of sexual fetishism was developed with male Japanese quail based on persistence of conditioned sexual responding during extinction to an inanimate object made of terrycloth.
